Viewing and Printing Graphics

Whenever a coordfile is open in Copan, it is displayed in the main graphic window. You can view — or print out — any portion of this file at almost any scale.

To Pan Around a Graphic Display

Pan around the graphics window via the scroll bars or hold down the mouse wheel and drag it.click for larger view

To Zoom Into and Out of a Graphic Display

From the Viewing & Printing menu, choose Zoom In, Zoom Out, or Zoom to Extents.

After choosing Zoom In, drag a rectangle over your intended target area.

To Pan and Zoom Into a Specific Point

  1. Viewing & Printing | Zoom To Point...
  2. Enter the Point number.
  3. Optionally, choose how many times you wish to Zoom in.
  4. OK.

After choosing Zoom To Point, enter a point number, and choose how many times to zoom in.

The display will then be centered on, and zoomed into, the given point.

To View a Specific Subset of Points

To Print a Graphic Display

Assuming you have the desired graphics within view, and assuming your computer has access to a printer...

From the Viewing & Printing menu, choose Options...

Choose Paper Units, and Model-to-Paper Units Conversion Factor.

  1. Choose Viewing & Printing | Options... to open a Viewing and Printing dialog.
  2. Select your preferred Paper Units — millimetres, centimetres, or inches — and enter the appropriate Model-to-Paper Units Conversion Factor. This pair of choices should ensure that graphics are printed true to any specified scale. For example:

    Unless your coordfile or paper units change, you'll never need to repeat that part of the process again.

From the Viewing & Printing menu, choose Page Setup or Print.

Choose Paper Size, Orientation, and Margins.

  1. Choose Viewing & Printing | Page Setup... to open a standard Page Setup dialog.
  2. Select various Paper, Orientation, Margins, and Printer options.
  3. Click OK.
    Unless your Page Setup choices change, you only need to repeat that part of the process once each program session.

  1. Choose Viewing & Printing | Print... to open a special Print dialog.
  2. Select which Region of the Source Map to print — just the Current View or the Whole Map — and select the Scale of the Printed MapAdjust to fit page or Fix at 1: whatever scale you enter.
  3. Click OK.
